After 70 years of failed regulation the public deserve a genuine, independent press regulator and a press that works for the many instead of the few.
The Leveson report showed how it was possible to protect ordinary people from cruel and unethical treatment by the press while at the same time safeguarding and enhancing freedom of expression.
Carrying on that legacy, Hacked Off is committed to fighting for a fair and accountable press for all. This means taking on digital platforms and the rise of fake news, fighting discrimination against targeted marginalised groups, supporting efforts to diversify the media, and most importantly, helping victims of press abuse and intrusion receive justice.
We are committed to holding power to account.
